Chuck is a native Texan from the oil fields out West. Chuck received his BS degree in Rangeland Management from Texas Tech University in 1992 and MS degree from Tech in 1997 studying “The Effects of Prescribed Fire on Honey Mesquite (Prosopis glandulosa). From his first introduction to the Range and Wildlife department and Dr. Henry Wright, until graduation, Chuck was involved with the prescribed burning activities at Texas Tech. Upon graduation Chuck managed a small 3000ac. ranch in Kent County Texas. From there he joined the NRCS in 1999 as a rangeland management specialist working in multiple counties in Oklahoma. In 2005 Chuck joined the Central National Technology Support Center in Ft. Worth as rangeland specialist and in 2014 he was also named the National Fire Ecologist for the NRCS (a collateral duty). Chuck has been teaching and advocating the use of prescribed fire for more than 30 years. Chuck has been on the board of directors for Texas section Society for Range Management from 2015-2017, and Oklahoma section from 2001-2003. He is currently on the board for the Great Plains Fire Science Program, a liaison for the Coalition of Prescribed Fire Councils, and has served as an Air Resource Advisor for the USFS on wildland fires.
