Brian was born, raised, and received is ecological education in the great state of Iowa where he graduated from Kirkwood Community College in 2007 with a A.A.S. in Parks and Natural Resources Management and a B.S. in Conservation Management with minors in Biology and Earth Science from Upper Iowa University in 2009. While in Iowa he worked in environmental education, fisheries, public and private lands conservation, and the state and county parks system before moving to Nebraska in 2010 to work for Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever as a private lands biologist from 2010 to 2015. In 2015, he then transitioned to his current role as the Pheasants Forever State Prescribed Fire Coordinator where he focuses on prescribed fire education, outreach, legislation, and returning fire to the private lands across the state. He currently serves as an advisor to the landowner led Nebraska Prescribed Fire Council.
